Like other readers, I'm not quite sure what to make of this book. For one thing, the ending is really tacked on. Another thing is that I'm left ruminating about what the message is supposed to be, and all I want is to find a cute book about monsters for storytime!

The illustrations are cute and the idea is fun, but I just wanted more from this one. There's not enough story or conclusion or something - it just left me wanting, feeling like it wasn't quite over.

While I enjoyed the illustrations and even thought the premise of the book was cute, the story just didn't seem to go anywhere. This book has potential; it's a shame the potential was not used.

Little boy draws a monster who's quite a demanding creature. He problem solves with his pen, and eventually makes new friends. Funny and a bit odd.

For as long as Sean has been drawing, he has been drawing monsters. Sure, he draws other subjects too, but monsters are his favorite creative pass-time. So when I saw Jeremy Draws a Monster by Peter McCarty among the Cybils nominees, I had to check out a copy for my son to read.

As the title says, Jeremy draws a monster. In fact Jeremy spends most of his time alone in his room drawing like Chloe does in "Fear Her" (Doctor Who, Tenth Doctor, Season 2, episode 11). And like Chloe, his drawings start to come alive. It starts with the monster and progresses as the monster makes demands of Jeremy.

Besides reminding me of Chloe, Jeremy reminds me of Treehorn who has magical adventures right under the nose of his unobservant parents. Fortunately there's a happy ending for Jeremy.

Though I did not love this story so much, the drawings were fantastic. I particularly love the little old man sketch inside the back cover.

This book is pretty hilarious. I wish all my problems could go away by giving them a bus ticket and a suitcase ;)

If you don't go outside you have nothing to do but draw. Until the drawing comes to life and and takes over everything.
