I read this book because of the Netflix show adaptation, and the adaptation is fairly faithful to the book. In the book, George is overweight and the narration of the book never lets you forget it, which felt like too much.
I enjoy this story and these characters, but sometimes I feel like Lockwood's similarity to Sherlock Holmes is a little heavy handed, and he can be a little too egotistical to sympathize with. Hopefully that just means the character has room to grow in the rest of the series.
I can definitely see myself reading the next book in this series.

I enjoyed the show, so decided to check out the books. This first book keeps pretty close to the show and was enjoyable.
I'm excited to continue on with the books and see more of the development unfold where the show left off.

After starting the series on Netflix, I decided to read the book first.
Although the plot was very intriguing, I sometimes found it a tad slow. Maybe it was just me tho because many other people liked this book.
⚠️ Warning⚠️
The Whispering Scull was a dnf, due to it being extremely boring and slow paced. I truly wanted to like this book and continue the series, but I just couldn’t.
That saying, I still recommend the first book.
