I read this book randomly when I was in high school and then forgot about it. But reading it likely planted seeds of wanting to raft the Grand Canyon. I read it again just now, after actually rafting the Grand Canyon as an adult. It was the perfect mix of YA plus outdoor adventure plus personal nostalgia for the canyon itself. I'll have to check out other Will Hobbs books now!

Still a terrible book.

A fantastic coming-of-age novel that follows Jessi and fellow wilderness therapy campers on a white water adventure through the Grand Canyon. Without a mile-by-mile guild.

With food running low, and many hidden dangers--both outside of the teens, and within their own group--Downriver delivers the reader with a riveting story and a chance to grow with the characters.

I read this in a reading group. One of my favorite parts is one of the side characters, Troy, is seen as a good guy in the beginning and then in the end, he is the bad guy. This is a very good book and I highly recommend it if you haven't read it.
