Really enjoyed this. Read it right after [b:Bitter|58558604|Bitter (Pet, #0.5)|Akwaeke Emezi|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1628881140l/58558604._SY75_.jpg|92036058], which I hadn’t found particularly impressive. But the messages in here about abuse and community moved me in ways I wouldn’t have expected for a YA novel. Plot-wise, the book is the perfect length for what it seeks to do; characterization is amazing (as I felt was also the case with "Bitter"); and I really, really love Jam and Redemption’s friendship.

This is the type of book that still has me thinking about it even weeks later. I wouldn't be able to explain what the book is about exactly, but I do understand why so many of my friends kept telling me to read it.

I suck at reading books in one sitting. My attention span doesn't work like that, but apparently this book got my attention span hooked. I simply couldn't put it down.
