This was really quite an excellent book. I'm anxious to find out what happens next.
I wanted to enjoy this funny little PNR but it became too sexist and racist for me to stomach much of it.
I really did like the book overall. I thought that towards the end it dragged a little. I was ready for it to end, but that may have been for other reasons. I read reviews of books before, during, and after I read the book mainly to gauge if I will like the book in the first place, then because I really cannot do surprises I need to know what will happen, and then to see what others feel about what I just read. So I already knew how the next book would begin (which I have started reading as well by this point). I was ready to have the ending of this book wiped away and get to where I want the story to be.
If you've read any reviews you will know that this ends on a somewhay cliffhanger. I am so glad I got into the series when I did because I wouldn't be able to stand not knowing how things would end up!
I really do look forward to reading the rest of the series and I know this is the first book of said series so whatever faults I may have found with it really don't matter because I liked the overall story enough to want to continue. To see what else needs to be said about these characters and this setting of place. To me, that says it all and that's all that matters!
I adored this book. I haven't been this drawn to a paranormal romance since I started being a BDB addict. I went right out today and got the last three books in this series. I can't wait to start them. I adore Cat, she is a strong women who knows what she wants. I am completely in love with Bones, who is just drop dead sexy, hehehe, did you get my joke? ;) The sensuality and heat in this book was off the charts and the action was sweet...I could read Cat kicking butt through the whole book, oh wait, I did, and it was awesome. You have to read this series if you haven't already.
Picked this up years after my first read of it to break out of a reading slump and I loved it just as much, if not more! Cat and Bones are still my favorite.
Urban Fantasy needs to make a comeback, I think

I requested this book from the library because of a book review blog. The person read mainly paranormal, and said that Jeaniene Frost was her all time favorite author. Anyone who loves paranormal & mentions a favorite author, that I've never heard of - well, I have to get the book, obviously.
And I was immediately disappointed. I just couldn't get into the book. I kept reading it, mainly because I kept forgetting to grab another book from my TBR pile & put it into my lunch bag. And it started getting better, and all of a sudden, I got hooked, completely engrossed in the story, couldn't put it down & thought about Cat & Bones all the time, begrudged my husband for interrupting me when I was reading, type of maddness. I don't know how or why it happened, but I'm thrilled to say that I can add Frost to my list of authors I enjoy, and I look forward to reading the rest of this series in the future!

So my little Chickadee friends gave me some recommendations for PNR books as I really can't seem to get into them at all.
I was firstly recommended the EIT series which I devoured and this one so I thought what the hell and tried it.
Usually any synopsis with the word vampire in it gets a huge wide berth from me, but I sucked it up (see what I did there?) and pulled up my big girl vampire panties and dived in.............AND LOVED IT!!!!
I've dived headfirst into this series and Cat & Bones have made it into one of my favourite couples!!

I read this book many years ago after just finishing university. It was incredible. Cat and Bones rock 👍🏻
Trigger warning: abuse and sexual assault.
I loved it. It's a really good book. It gives you what it promises: vampires, a badass protagonist, fights, and romance. The characters felt real, although all the paranormal stuff. It talks a lot about abuse and survivors, in a respectful tone.
I enjoyed it a lot. And I kind of fell in love with the couple. I hope the series keep it up.

A perfectly enjoyable example of exactly what this book was aiming to be. It's not an example of PNR that I think would convince someone to love the genre, but for those of us who can't get enough, it was very enjoyable.
