Did like the message in the book and it did help me minimalise. But the tone wasn't great. There was also a lot in it that I couldn't relate too, because I'm very different then the people he has sort of written the book for. That made me feel a bit left out tbh. I would have liked to see this more generalised and not only about rich people needing to do minimalism.

I'm currently reading The more of less by Joshua Becker. I'm reading the ebook.

I'm really enjoying this so far. This book is about minimalism and I want to be more of a minimalist. I already want to clean out my house again, which is awesome. The book is well written with anecdotes that I really enjoy. I don't care for the religious aspect to it, but it's not bothering me too much.

Didn't like this. The tone of the book was annoying and especially the way the author talked to me, but basically called me a rich person all the time. Therefore I couldn't relate and it was bothering me a lot. I did minimalise my house which was good. Wouldn't recommend this one if you want to learn more about minimalism. Gave it 2.5 stars.

Our world checks the wrong scoreboard. Those who live in excess are not necessarily the ones who have the most fulfilled lives. Often it is those who live quietly, modestly, and contentedly with a simple life who are the happiest.

For the last years I have been trying to cut down on the amount of things I own and it seems at the end of each year I acquired more stuff I don't need. Reading this book is the kick in the ass I needed to get my act together and once and for all decide to live with less. A lot of the things Becker covers is practical and if you are looking to live with less he does give a great guide. I liked the Biblical references, it drove the point home for me a lot more.

If your new year's intention is to live with less or be more intentional in how you acquire things, this book is the perfect read.

I read a lot of these home organization books- and this one is more about minimalism- but this one has so much soul! I loved it!

DID NOT FINISH

Information is for beginners and too religious for me personally.

Short, perhaps too short. A good overview of minimalism and why it is a good idea. Not much in the way of practical tips. Deserves an honourable mention for integrating Christianity without being irritating or preachy as is so often the case. All in all, a good read.

Good book for people who are new to minimalism or simplifying. For those who are already steeped in it, this probably won’t offer much that is new. Becker does occasionally reference Christian topics/themes, so that might be a draw for some, and he didn’t do it in a way that was a turn off for me as a non-Christian.

2.5 rounded down. I liked most of this but wish the last 1/4 had been edited down. I don't love the way statistics are used and I felt it was presented from a very particular perspective, a white, upper middle to upper class perspective. Though the author acknowledged poorer and working class communities, they didn't seem to factor into a lot of the advice toward the end of the book. The first 3/4 offers some solid advice, however.
