The book was okay then the ending was ambiguous which I mixe  feelings for because it's difficult to do it good. In this book I feel the ending made it worse and I left the book extremely frustrated

when i first read the book i liked it a lot because i thought it was just supposed to be a psychological horror/thriller, but upon discovering that this is supposed to be a dark romance, i like it significantly less. protagonist is far from the main character, everyone is awful, and there are so many missed opportunities for genuine character development. the romance is the most insufferable part of the book, but it was tolerable when i thought it was meant to be a horror element. so if you just pretend to not know you’re reading a colleen hoover book, this is a solid 3.5 for simplicity and tropes

Lots of plot holes and sort of boring. Lots of filler sentences that didn't need to be there and could be summarised quite easily.

it felt like the opening scene was there for shock value only. We don't get any deeper insight into how the main character views a man dying in front of her. We get a very surface level exploration of her feelings and then omg this man is sooo hot 🔥. A dead man's blood is on her and all she can think about is this hot man and info dump about her mother dying. Trauma dumping is not a good way to build a relationship for a reader to be invested in.

If youre looking for an easy read that you don't have or want to think too deeply about this is a book for you. Btw nothing wrong with that.

The best Colleen Hoover novel I’ve ever read. The twist at the end was actually good (though yes, there was a lengthy explanation). Parts of this book were horrifying. I was constantly trying to guess how it would end and I could not stop reading (finished this in four days). This reminded me of “Flowers in the Attic” by VC Andrews for some reason.

The only negative: the main character is annoying and downright unlikeable by the end (but it works with the ending imo).
