This was a miss for me. I read the 2nd book in th  series, Stray 1st. Decided to go back and read the 1st one. Besides learning more about the characters I met in book 2, I did not enjoy this. I'm a dark romance fan, but this felt too shallow for all the happened in this book.

Overall I enjoyed this book.

The stalking was top tier, probably some of the better I've read, and I've read quite a lot of it. It's one of my favorites.

If your looking for a good kidnapping book, it's not really this one. While it technically happens it was very mild and doesn't really count in my book. After he kidnapped her the book was more on the mild side. I would have enjoyed it if it was darker, but that might just be my warped brain that loves dark romance already. I'm sure someone who only reads "lighter" shades on the romance spectrum would be horrified by the stalking. For someone that reads dark romance I wanted it darker. He was super sweet and carrying, which was adorable, but it felt like his personality flip flopped a bit after the kidnapping.

And he definitely let her family off the hook a lot...if this had been a mafia book they would have been GONE. lol

There were a lot of things that I liked about this book. I really enjoy that for the first time in a stalker romance, I actually got a good amount of him stalking her, usually is just 10 pages and that's it. I like that Van had great friends and thy actually cared a lot about him and did everything for him. I liked the fact that violet stood up for herself even though she was the shy type. Sasha was the best friend everyone wants and needs. I just wished the book was a little smaller just because I got a bit bored sometimes. I'm very excited about Sasha story because I got a very good feeling about her match.

very anticlimactic and didn't have any detail. everything was told really quickly and from the surface. i found myself thinking "how convenient" at multiple points throughout the book. everything just seemed to workout without anyone having to do anything. it wasn't realistic. i mean, sure, this book's whole theme is a woman falling in love with her stalker and them living happily ever after how realistic can you expect it to be? but some books just have a way of convincing you it's realistic even if it's for from it and this was just not it. everything felt too easy. although i did like the part where
violet learns micheal is not actually her father. i was so focused on violet and van that i hadn't put any thought into why her dad hated her.
it was quite literally the most exciting part of the book and that didn't last long.

i was so hyped after reading the wrench kings series it introduced me to this author and i was so excited to read more of her work. i just can't believe this was written by the same author. i'm hoping the next book is better because i love what the book is about i just hope it was written good.

although i complained about a lot of things i have to say this book was not bad i enjoyed this book. i just think it could be so much better.
