A Dark and Secret Place is one of the scariest books I have ever read. The author does a wonderful job of setting up a creepy and dark atmosphere throughout the entire book. This book is about a serial killer who kills dead women and decorates the body after death. However, it is also the story of a young woman returning home after her mother committed suicide. I would say this book is a cross between horror and thriller and it honestly was maybe a little bit too scary for me at times! I liked the first seventy percent of the book and was a little disappointed in the ending but overall it was a decent read. Definitely don’t recommend reading this one at night!

This was fine, but none of the characters really stood out and the author's writing wasn't anything special. I didn't see the twist at the end coming, but it also wasn't really surprising or even very exciting. I was just kind of bored.
