What a delightful, perfectly contained little story. I want more, and yet the pacing and amount was just right. Anymore and I worry it would spoil the magic, so I think the length and detail is Just Right ❤️

this was such a cute, quick listen for a road trip! I loved the twist on sleeping beauty, and I always love T. Kingfisher's writing style!

I felt as though the characters were a little flat, but that might just be with the length of the book. I would've preferred a longer read because I really wanted to dive down deeper into who they are!

Did I buy this book because it's about a fae toad? Maybe. Because it has a drawing of a toad for the chapter headings? Yes. Did I actually continue reading it because it's a fairytale retelling with diverse religious representation? Absolutely.

This is the first time I've experienced a book that was boring BUT also intriguing. The start was so dull and I wanted to drop it but this book is so short I pushed through and I'm glad I did; this was an interesting take on a classic fairytale with the "bad guy" actually being good and the "good guy" being bad.
