Eerily, I found this book during and/or because of the pandemic. And it was the highlight of that whole non ending year for me. This is one of those books I compare a lot of other books against, and they fail to live up to its glory. This is also a book I want to read again, and I will.

Melancholic and beautiful, and quietly hopeful. Perfect non-chronological storytelling.

I really liked the way this book was written with a non-linear timeline. It kept the stories interesting and made you wonder how things would connect, or how this new piece of information would affect the story. It ended up being a lot more about the people than about a pandemic, but the way it came together, and the portrayal of the world after disaster were fascinating. I like how it wasn’t just a vision of surviving an apocalyptic, ruined world, but how she gave us hope that humanity can rebuild and persevere.
