My favorite part was her talking about her parents and “permission”.

I really liked the concept of this book. There are also a lot of good food for thought ideas. I'm glad I chose to listen to the audiobook because Elizabeth is very engaging and makes it much more interesting than I think reading it would be. The overall theme I picked up on is that we need to set time for creativity and not be afraid of what might come. If you are looking for a book on how to tell you to be creative this might not be what you are looking for. This is more of an inspiration on how to be a creative type of book.

Liz wrote this for herself, and I'm so happy she did. At times I felt like my mother (a self help book addict) had written this, which almost drove me to place it back on the shelf never to be opened again, but I'm so glad I didn't.
Now a lot of this book is her mentioning her friends, and her blessed life of being a full time writer (life goals, right?), but she says it again and again "your creativity is putting art out there for you, not to please others". So the parts I didn't get a whole lot from, well that was for her, but the parts that stuck with me were almost electrifying, and for that I am so thankful I finished this book. I found it very inspiring, as someone who would one day love to complete a work of written word, and I hope I spend more time sowing the seeds of creativity, instead of being a "foster mom" for the ideas of others.
For you quick readers, this definitely fits bill. If you're looking for a somewhat cliche filled #newyearnewyou jumpstart, this could be it, as I found it to be that and much more!
