I loved this book. I would recommend this to anybody that is an artist! It was a great exploration and conceptualization of how to experience creative living in a way that will leave you feeling happy. Elizabeth’s tone of writing is unique and unforgettable! I’m going to make sure all the creative people in my life read this book.

This book was nice, I think for non-fiction, sometimes you put things in your TBR, and then firget about them, and then when you actually need them, you find them again to read. And I needed Big Magic, I needed to be reminded of that big thinking hat and really listen and read carefully, so this one was at the right time, even if what it said was more things I needed to hear, rather than things I didn’t know before.

Good book for boosting your writing (and other creative outlet) self esteem.

Many authors with any measure of popularity take a stab at a creativity book. Most just recite what's been said before, but Gilbert succeeds wildly with a mix of the mystical (as the title implies) and the realistic. While providing insight into her process, she cites other artists and writers and embraces a joyful aesthetic and philosophy rather than the oft-cited "you must suffer for your art." Highly recommended.

This was a great listen for anyone working through a creative process. I appreciated many of her anecdotes and perspectives, especially that a creative process doesn't need to be (nor should it probably be) traumatic, ideas for getting out of a creative rut, and how to tap into the creative magic around us. This is one I'd return to for inspiration if I'm ever facing writer's block in the future.
