This is one of the most beautiful stories I’ve ever had the privilege of reading. I will be thinking about Joan for a long time.

Loved the romance - Taylor Jenkins Reid is a fantastic character writer as always, and I feel deeply in love with the cast and their relationships. Never a slow point, I read most of the book while at work and then had to pretend not to be teary in front of customers haha
Not me bawling my eyes out at 2:30 in the morning. I loved every minute of this. A must read

This is easily one of my favourite reads of the year!
As this was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid novel, I didn't really know what to expect. The topics she picked for her books didn't really interest me in the past, but the first women joining NASA in the 80's? Right up my alley.
And it did not disappoint!
Spoilers from now on:
The love story was so tender and felt so genuine. I adored both Vanessa and Joan, as well as her relationship to her niece.
Vanessa's character and her upcoming especially stood out to me personally, because I resonated with her a lot.
I'm not sure how I feel about Joan's sister, and how she was only ever a mean person and a bad mother. I didn't see quite a lot of nuance in her character. I wish Joan stood up to her and told her the truth about herself, but I'm settling for Joan confronting her with how selfish she is.
Other people loke Donna and Griff were beautifully woven into the story and I quite cared for them.
The themes in Atmosphere were so on point. Feminism, Homophobia, self discovery, self worth, religion and science excisting next to each other. Yes please! We didn't necessary dive too deep into any of those topics, kept it more of a reaccuring theme throughout the whole book, but for the lenght and style of this novel, it was perfect.
When i was approx. 2/3 through, I was a little afriad the novel would lose it's pace, but just when I thought I might get bored soon, suspense rose again and picked up.
I read the last 80 pages in the middle of the night, because I couldn't put it down. I was laying in my bed sobbing and feeling all the feelings.
Loved it till the very last page.
I would recommend this book without hesitation.
