Haunting story of a wild girl and the dying wild.

It’s beautifully written and intertwines themes of environmentalism, loss, home and redemption. The prose is lyrical and evocative, however there is foreshadowing of something dark about Franny. And by the end of the book I severely disliked her and the chaos she wrought in her wake. But the birdies, my heart for the birdies.

Breathtaking. Only so very slightly dystopic and futuristic; just us in a few years. The sea-ness is moving.  The family and tragedy and marriage stuff, meh.
Being ever so loyal to places I've been, I was very excited for a small mention of Ushuaia.

I've been trying to craft a review for a few days but I can't. This isn't like anything I've ever read before and not at all what I was expecting but in the best way? A genre of sci-fi so rooted in reality that it unfortunately felt so real, my bird lover heart is so full and irremediably broken too.
The way the story is told through vignettes and different timelines makes it very digestible too, no really. Read it.

This is by far one of the most beautiful books I have ever read and it has now become my favorite. This book is felt, not read. I related to Franny in endless ways more than I have to any other protagonist. If you are an empath or care about conservation and the environment, this will move you deeply and you will likely shed a few tears.
