gonna need a fucking therapist after this oh my god. i actually don’t know how to process what the hell i just read but i’ve got book 3 and i cannot read anything else because i can’t stop thinking about this.

ANDREW, NICKY AND RENEE NEED PROTECTING AT ALL COSTS. NOBODY TOUCH THEM. quite literally if anything happens to renee i’m throwing hands.

although i should’ve looked at trigger warnings before i read this (rookie move when reading ATFG) so please be aware of the content warnings.

oh my god.

Honestly didn't expect such a good sequel to the first book, which was too unorganized. Im still not the biggest fan of the writing, but it's decent. The book solved a lot of issues I had at first, especially regarding the characters. You could definitely feel that the author invested way more time into the sequel.
The dynamic is even better now, after we finally got some reasonable explanation on why some of them act the way they do. But I wished that the mc would've gone at least once to the psychiatrist like the other characters did, because those were my favorite interactions.

The coach Wymack definitely is my favorite character and the scene at the end broke my heart.

Neil, Wymack called him, even when he looked like this, even with his father's face and his father's eyes and the Moriyamas' number on his face. Neil, Wymack called him, and more than anything Neil wanted it to be true.
He stopped fighting to get free; the hands that had been trying to wrench Wymack's arms off him now held on for dear life. "Help me," he said through gritted teeth. "Let me," Wymack shot back, so Neil closed his eyes.

He was their family. They were his. They were worth every cut and bruise and scream.

All in all it was way more devastating than the first book that I had to put it down twice, just to organize my thoughts and stare into my wall for 10min.

I think this is the first time I can't give a rating to a book.

These books are literally so incredibly awful.. but they are unfortunately my comfort series. The trigger warnings list is super long and there’s tons of problematic content in these books, also it’s poorly written and doesn’t make much since at the end of the day- my conclusion: I love these books but i would never recommend them to someone
