Yet another great story in the Septimus Heap series!
Although reading #6 I caught myself wishing for story lines from certain characters, so got a little bit annoyed when Angie Sage didn't read my mind. Because of this feeling I experienced a little reading dip, but after a while I got my reading drive back and Septimus, Alther and a huge dragon turned this book into a page turner. Thank you guys ;)

Now I'm dreading to start #7, the last one! Oh no no no no.
Is there more after that? Wishful thinking. Other stories by Angie, yes, as good as these? One way to find out. But first, Fyre!

The books in this series have steadily been getting darker as Septimus and his friends encounter more of the Darke. But this book jumped in with both feet. In the process of banishing Tertius Fume, Marcia Overstrand also banished Alther Mella. Not long after, a Darke Domain called into being by Merrin Meredith begins expanding and takes over the Castle. Marcia is able to call an emergency and erect a barrier to protect the Wizard Tower from the Darke Domain, but it won't last forever. As if that wasn't enough, there is also a Darke Dragon on the loose. It will take the help of everyone - including Simon Heap, if Septimus can set aside his anger long enough to work with him - in order to defeat the Darke Domain, though not everyone will survive.

I loved this book. Though it is the penultimate book of the series, it is nice to see everything starting to come together for Septimus, Jenna, Beetle, and all the others. More so in this book than any of the others, the characters are all growing into who they will be as adults. Though they still have a few years to go before they are actually adults, we see them take on more responsibility in this book as they prepare for adulthood. I especially liked seeing Jenna grow into her status as princess and future queen, which she has thus far in the series been avoiding as much as possible.

I have no idea where the last book of the series is going to go, but I am definitely looking forward to listening to it and finding out.
