Another fun addition to the Septimus Heap series (6). I really like how Sage jumps right into the action-without recapping the previous books. Septimus and Jenna are celebrating their 14th Birthday. Septimus is excited to delve a little into the DARKE (bad magic, as opposed to the good MAGYK)-especially when it means finding Alther, the ghost who was accidentally banished. Things start to go wrong when a Darke Domaine is set up in the castle and the Darke threatens to destroy the castle and everyone around it.

I really liked this book. It was interesting to see how the Darke and Magyk interact.

I love the ending to this book. I hope the last book in this series has happy endings for everyone but I will find out soon enough.

Septimus and his pals finally deal with the evil embodied by Merrin Meredith and Tertius Fume. I enjoyed the story because instead of romping across the countryside the characters are defending their home (the Castle and Wizard Tower) against evil. And Beetle, my favorite character, plays an inmportant role.

Septimus must enter the Darke as part of his wizard apprenticeship.  Everything goes wrong.  These books will keep you on the edge of your seat.  Looking forward to the next book.  The narrator does an incredible job with the voices on the audio.

Once again I greatly enjoyed the book.
The only holes I saw were the fact that the two-faced ring seemed to give Merrin more power than DomDaniel and that why Alther disappeared by a banishing curse meant for someone else. Otherwise, it was some pretty solid story telling.
I found it interesting that the more Darke you had practiced, the more protected you were from it but the more Darke you had experienced, the more susceptible you were. I enjoy when magical beings are not all powerful and the fact that her world isn't as black and white has many. There needs to be a balance of forces.

As always this is a cool story. This author has a way of telling little stories inside the overall story. I love it. I can’t wait for the last book. What a wonderful story.
