I really enjoyed the beginning...then it turned.

Somewhere between the astral projection and the nonsensical murder machinations, this book just didn't quite do it for me.

I enjoyed her writing style and will definitely give her another go, but this wasn't it.

Shoutout for mocking the worst book cover I've ever seen. I point it out to my husband every time I see it in the wild. Iykyk.

What a great read! A woman who loves books and loves making up stories as she people watches has these fantastic daydreams about her husband's possible death and even greater day and night dreams about her secret crush. She's pretty immature and unlikeable, but so interesting! I want to know her, but not befriend her:)

The cover art and whimsical title might lead you to think this will be a lighthearted tale about a nerdy book lover, but that's not what this book is about AT ALL.

In fact, I really can't understand why they seem to be marketing it as a womens contemporary novel, when it's actually shockingly dark.

All that being said, after pushing through the first 10-15% of the book, the story actually grabbed my interest and reeled me in.

For some reason, I keep picking up books with the main focus is of a woman who is constantly complaining and whining about married life. Whether, divorced or not.
I can’t take anymore of it to be honest. I have a 7 year old that whines and complains enough and I prefer not to keep reading about adult women acting the same especially over a marriage. It’s 2023 and women shouldn’t still be so dependent on a man and a marriage

DID NOT FINISH: 15%

I think the marketing and genre for this book are fully wrong. I went in thinking it'd be a fun campy romance ala Dial A for Aunties and instead got....whatever this is supposed to be. It's NOT romance. lmao

this book is strange? i’m guilty of not reading the summary or reviews before checking this one out. it’s definitely readable but, i struggled at some parts.

couldn’t get past the main character bashing on “the crying man book” that is 720 pages about a “sad man who finishes the book sad and doesn’t learn anything” . girl i know you’re talking about a little life and don’t u come for that masterpiece.
beyond this, it really irked me how she’s a “bookworm” but like, barely reads? she spends all her time plotting how to kill her husband and . being fucking unbearable.

and that ending. well. i wasn’t expecting that. i was gonna give this a book a 3 star and then that shit happened and. girl what in the hell. but yeah do yourself a favor, big big pass on this book lol.

i will say that i didn’t find the audiobook very accessible. my hearing is bad but i can still hear enough but the volume changes were too frequent and at times i literally could not understand the narrator at all. which isn’t a comment on the books content itself just for anyone checking out the audiobook! that needs to be worked on.
