This book was wild. I didn't like Victoria, and it seems that it was intentionally written that way which is fine, but I found it hard to care about her arc when she would be constantly be thinking horrible things and was giving off a "pick me girl" vibes with a dose of fatphobia.
Did I not particularly like this book? Yes.

This book started off as fun to listen to and gradually took a nosedive. The main character is a bookworm (yay bookworms) but she lived in her head and by 75% in the book had no plot/intrigue of what could happen. The last 15% was confusing and didn’t wrap anything up in my opinion. It had potential to be so much more than it was.
I thought this book was so clever! Victoria is not a nice person and her inner life is horrifying. But it’s so darkly funny. I loved The Secret Life of Walter Mitty growing up so I knew I had to read this one when I saw it compared to that. Don’t read this book if you don’t like books where all the characters are terrible. They are all truly awful. But I loved this book and thought it was so entertaining.

First chapter was allllll telling instead of showing and I almost put it down. But in the second chapter we meet the MC's horrible husband -- wow! And things escalate from there. Not quite the quirky little read I was expecting! This one definitely had a much darker twist than I expected. Well plotted and refreshingly different. A quick read too at only 260-some pages.

you might say “why are you giving a book that isn’t even a 3 star on goodreads a 5 star? because when an author writes a book and creates all characters equally psychotic, equally unlikable, and equally driven by motivation that is clearly dark - you have to hand it to them. when enough is enough, sometimes there are no lengths a person won’t go to create the life they dream of living.
This was actually so bizarre. I did not like. The whole time she was plotting out her affair. She was kind of the worst. The ending was for sure a twist - and did make me rethink how intelligent the main character was...but she was also definitely evil.
Ok, I am usually very giving of stars, but this book I guess besides the dark humor, really rubbed me the wrong way, besides the inconsistencies, besides the semi annoying characters, I just didn’t understand the point of her out of body experiences, sure have the hots for another guy but to basically have an affair with him while you’re astral projecting is just ridiculous to me…using the projecting to plot your husband’s demise would have made more sense… anyway, not bad first book… just fell flat for me
