I was really annoyed with myself for guessing the big reveal a few chapters into the book, but I still wasn’t prepared for how it ended. Really enjoyed this book, and can’t wait to get into the next one in the series!

I bought my first copy of this book in 2012, in the original cover, put it on my shelf and never picked it up again. I think the idea of a cyborg cinderella kinda irritated me, but recently seen the new cover of the book and recognized the title. I decided to attempt to read my copy before I bought the entire series because it had ✨pretty✨covers. I loved it, I love it, I have suggested it to every person I have talked to since I started reading it. I was a lil sad that I guessed the plot twist early, apparently several people did bUT It was okay and didn’t bother me because reading this book was (and someone else said this too) genuinely innocently FUN. Light hearted(with heavy concepts but) but really enjoyable. Like scooby doo on a saturday morning with your big brother fun. No “pick me” girls, or overly complicated romance just a tomboy of sorts being generally confused about the world around her and it made sense and I think we WERE suppose to know the plot twist because Cinder never would have guessed it in a million years.
adventurous funny medium-paced

This is one of my favorite book series. I love the idea of putting a new spin on fairy tales.

I am in shock....The end was unexpected. And you can't just leave us on a cliffhanger Marissa!!! Have to get Scarlet right away!

Cinder is an interesting twist on a traditional story. I loved the character of Cinder...part cyborg who doesn't know anything about her life before age 11. All she knows is life after the horrible accident and cyborg surgery that saved her. The setting is New Beijing after World War IV. A horrible plague and an evil queen add to the plot and make for a weird, but enjoyable read.

I really did enjoy this book, especially the world and characters, as well as the subtle nods to the original fairytale, the only problem I have is that all of the plot twists were highly predictable and it was a tiny bit cliche. I really did like this book though and I think if you don’t really want to be very surprised by the twists it’s perfect!
