I read the first story, thought it was ok, then couldn't even get through the second because the characters felt so flat and unlikable

This is my first adventure into the works of LaRocca, and it may be my last. I don't generally judge an author by only one book, but after experiencing this collection of three written works all by him, I'm certain he isn't someone I'd seek out ever again. LaRocca is the kind of writer who can only write short stories because he isn't a strong enough writer to write a full novel. While one could argue that he's following Lovecraftian fashion, I'd disagree. LaRocca's writing style is boring, leaving the flowery, descriptive, and brilliant prose techniques to the side to leave only odd formalism and mediocre depictions of grisly violence.

This was a quick easy read. Idk if this genre is just not up my alley or what it was but I was not super entertained to be honest. It wasn’t that it was a bad story, It just wasn’t my cup of tea.
