I picked up this book because it seemed like an interesting g take on a travel adventure story, and I did enjoy the diverse settings and characters that the main character encountered throughout this book, but I felt like the traumatic transitions between places were unnecessarily gory and tense. I felt like the mystery of the curse or whatever she was experiencing needed more development - suddenly have “it” talk threw me off, and I never understood the references to her seeking it out instead of letting it pursue her. The wrap up in the library was anticlimactic and I felt like I was missing something.

This action-packed adventure had me hooked. It was a wild ride. I can see why some people don't like it. It is disjointed and also maybe too fantastical for some. It's kind of strange. I didn't love everything. But not bad at all. It was all good fun for me.

This is one of the weirdest books I've ever read. It felt like an endless journey without purpose. I can't, for the life of me, tell you what the final message of this book is but it is beautifully written. It kind of feels like abstract art, beautiful but with a confusing meaning.
