Gorgeously written! The ending makes more emotional sense than narrative sense, but maybe that's a feature not a bug.

This was such an interesting premise - a story of the life of a young girl (through her old age) who contracts a mysterious disease where she starts to bleed out if she stays in one place for more than a few days. This description sounds way gorier than the book actually is (although you read about the blood a lot) and I really liked this, but was disappointed every time Aubry left someone behind. I guess one could argue that was kind of the point - feeling Aubry’s sadness to leave, but desire to live and experience more of the world.

if i could combine this book with the death plot of addie larue, i would've loved the resulting book. the pace was fast, the tales were nice like little short stories, i enjoyed most of the characters good and bad, and then the reporter shows up at her side and i hated it. i didn't like the ending, i didn't get the point of the children, and we got no answer to why she was sick? and while i enjoyed the libraries, they felt random. i wish there was a tie in, even if it was hallucinations from the illness or whatever was actually making her sick brought her to those and it made the super natural elements stronger? this book was very in the middle with no real home in a genre (which is fine, but it didn't feel on purpose). the pace and short excerpt style stories saved it and made it great for a commute read. also, she should've died at the end.
3.5 Definitely liked better than the Midnight Library, but maybe not as much as Invisible Life of Addie Larue. A little too much crossover for me there that they were both French and cursed.
Wonderful writing/plot/character development. I absolutely loved all of the library escapades and descriptions of her travels, but wish there was more explanation on why she was cursed with the illness and the meaning behind the libraries
