An excellent book about travel with an air of mystery; definitely reminiscent of the Midnight Library and The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue. - 1 star for relationship stuff

A very curious book. I continually felt as though just when I thought I had a grip on what type of book it was, the next section would shift and things would slither out of my fingers. I enjoyed and was also thrown off kilter by the constant shifting of the underlying mechanism/myth/illness and the combo of the fantastical and the mundane. The beginning and the end I found underwhelming, but the middle was very lovely and stimulating.
