simply one of the most beautiful love stories ever written in the world of literature. it explores the themes of forbidden love, vendetta and rivalry in between families, fate and the consequences of hatred.
i love dramatic stories with a tragic ending, and this one simply doesn't miss. the morale conveyed at the end is also really beautiful, and one cannot help but ask : why does it always take someone to die to realize hatred doesn't get you anywhere? once it's too late, it's too late.

I read this in high school and college, and hated every second of it. I was enrolled in a Shakespeare college course and actually dropped it to take World Religions instead. My cousin once told me that Shakespeare was considered a mediocre writer even in his own time period, but that he massively produced so much work it couldn't be ignored. I agree with this sentiment.
