I really enjoy the Shakespearean writing style. Story is decent, but line by line it was very intriguing to read.

Than this of Juliet and her Romeo."

In this stifling heat, and my heart so sick with love, what's a better companion than Romeo and Juliet?

This is one of those stories where it gets better the more you read them. The first time I read this, I wasn't very much impressed. The second time I read this, I felt like I was reading a whole different play and I could finally see how good it was. But this third time? Goodness, I was having so much fun. Romeo and Juliet's scenes made me squeal and blush and giggle. Their love was so intense, even I felt so shy from it all.

I loved the brief introduction at the start of the book where it analysed the play, wrote of modern adaptations, and summarised the play. I didn't realise how short the play was (time-wise). Like, what do you mean all of this went down within mere days? Not even a week? Oh, "their love blazes briefly and it's extinguished in the tomb" encapsulated their story perfectly. I loved this.

The amount of screaming i did reading this version. Unreal. Sara and I read this out loud to each other and it was such a good time

3.5 ✨

Why Romeo and Juliet is held with such high regard is beyond me. It's about a group of dumb teenagers doing things that dumb teenagers do to piss off their fueding families. There. That's it. That's the play.

Now, that being said, it's actually not a bad play; it's just not nearly as good as English teachers like you to think it is. To be completely honest, I was more entertained by keeping track of all the sex jokes I found to prove to my mother that Shakespeare's stories are quite dirty.
