I dunno, guys, I love the dramatics of it all.... and some scenes are actually very funny. And Shakespeare invented modern literature sooooooo.... that’s why it’s 5 stars.

honestly, my fault for writing off shakespeare before i had ever read any of his works. surprisingly (though it really shouldn't be -- he is THE english writer at least) this was actually kind of fun. bro can write!
i fear romeo and juliet's first interaction may be the most romantic thing i have ever read. not to quote entire passages but...
romeo: "have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?"
juliet: "ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer."
romeo: "o, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do!
they pray: grant thou, lest faith turn to despair."
juliet: "saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."
romeo: "then move not while my prayer's effect i take."
(he kisses her)
romeo: "thus from my lips, by thine my sin is purged."
juliet: "then have my lips the sin that they have took."
romeo: "from my lips? o trespass sweetly urged!
give me my sin again."
excuse me?! the invention of yearning might have taken place in verona, actually. the cure for non-chalance, perhaps.
