I have been disappointed by many books in my life but this is the first one to actually piss me off, the ending was so stupid. Such a waste of time.

Wow! That's all I can say about this book. I read this book a couple years ago and I can still remember what it's about. I think that really says something about the pure intensity of the story. This was one my first books by her and the reason I continue to read her books. Her ability for storytelling is fresh and inspiring.

I loved this book from start to finish. However, I found the ending to be pretty predictable and her books usually have a twist at the end that I always look forward to getting to! Besides that though, I enjoyed the storyline and thought all the research involved in the book was really intriguing.

Halfway through and I simply can't continue reading this. The misinformation and outdated anti-vaccine undertones unfortunately outweigh the crime/mystery entertainment value of this book. I appreciate Picoult's effort to research the topic, for in some selections she really did nail it, but she should have consulted multiple medical and therapeutic authorities rather than just a ton of families and one sole author/OT. Navigating autism is hard enough without the pseudoscience, and this is coming from someone with over a decade's worth of personal experience with autism who also works with kids on the spectrum professionally. I get that there's a line-- characters can embody anything and everything and aren't obligated to represent reality or the "right" way to live, but misinformation within the context of autism is just too high-risk for me.
