Another enjoyable read from Tom Phillips. It's entertaining, fun, sometimes scary. Like previous book it should make us think a bit but not overwhelm. Next read is Benjamin Franklin bio by Walter Isaksson. Franklin appears in the book quite frequently.

I listened to this after loving Phillips previous book ‘Humans’. It has a similar writing style, and is still both funny and informative, but it just didn’t engage me in the same way as Humans did. A good book, but not my favourite.

This book gave an overview of the history of lies big and small. It answers questions like:
Why are people so often wrong?
Why do politicians lie?
and Which founding father was one of the best liars ever?
This book is laugh-out-loud funny. It had great one liners and loads of historical information. Also a few suggestions for further reading. I highly recommend it.

This book was also recommended on an evolutionary psychology book, and that’s not what this book is. It’s a great book, but it has less evo psych than other books that were on the list. I still enjoyed it because the description told me exactly what I was getting. I like learning stories about who falls for scams, lies, and just flat out fake information. Tom Phillips brings in a ton of stories of major scams and big lies told throughout history. I read a ton of books on this topic, and I was unfamiliar with a lot of the stories Phillips discusses in this book.
