I love the way Bourdain experienced the world. Even through his rash assumptions and continuous explorations, he reminded me of a lot of time I’ve spent in male dominated atmospheres. A different type of camaraderie. Working as a team… also, thanks to this read - the list of food experiences I want to have before I die has grown longer and so has my appreciation for a good knife sharpener.

The one resounding memory I have from this book is never order from the specials menu and never order fish on a Sunday.

Great book. Sometimes it felt like the chapters were out of order, like when 3/4 of the way through the book suddenly the glossary of “kitchen speak” appears after he’d already used some of the terms earlier in the book.

Great read, but loses half a star for embellishment and an incoherent timeline
