A journey into darkness but worth the time. Sexton was a troubled creature with a magnificent and poignant voice that slices through your false ideas about mental illness, being a woman, love, and spirituality. I cannot believe that I've been in love with Sylvia Plath since my adolescence and I had never heard of Anne Sexton until last year. I fell in love with her too, now.

Not for the faint of heart.

Anne Sexton definitely suffered from mental illness, and it shows in her poetry. On the positive her poetry is not boring or conventional.

The Complete Poems by Anne Sexton – This was another early Christmas present! It was on sale, and I am a longtime lover of confessional poetry! I never got over my emo phase! Happy Reading!
