The main reason for the low rating was is the amount of misogyny in this and how much it annoyed me as a 'modern' reader. It was a good mystery though, didn't figure out who did it until Poirot revealed it at the end.

Absolute trash. There is too much wrong with this book and I'm too angry to write about it all, just to give you a taste of the kind of bullshit you can expect : A jealous man tries to MURDER his ex-fiance because she wants to marry someone else and somehow dear Agatha excuses this behaviour as him being in a silly goofy mood and it's her fault for wanting to leave him in the first place, oh and ofc she gets back with him because silly women don't actually know what they want.

The beginning wasn't very interesting, the premise is same old inheritance type of stuff. It started to pick up a bit when I reached around 30% of the book. The mystery got pretty interesting from there but the resolutions ended up being pretty far-fetched as usual. As with any other Agatha Christie's books, I didn't try to guess any of the resolutions (well because usually they ended up that far-fetched) but I had some thoughts about it and one of them turned out to be right.

I quite like the romance in this one, even though, once again, like other Agatha Christie's books, there's always some absurd insta-love which I hate but here there's a little bit of coming of age aspect in it and I can understand the attraction between the two characters involved. I actually relate quite a lot to the romance lol that's probably why I like it. But I vehemently disagree with the romance ending! It was fucked up.

Overall I quite enjoyed the book, the writing is neat and I finished it in 2 days, which was pretty quick.
