Beautifully written! It felt as if part of me died when I finished this book! I am eager to read more of Dickens! Pure genius!

This was a strange read for me. It is a classic but the language was really hard to comprehend. It felt different than other Dickens novels. Lots of rambling dialogue and descriptions, and lots of colloquialisms. There were sections in which people were referred to by several different names or descriptions that made it hard to follow. It took me 300 of the 500 pages to really understand what was happening, but then it became a very moving story. By the time I had finished it, I realized the plot was quite complex with several twists, and the ending was quite moving. It was a lot of work, but in the end it was worth it.

At first I really struggled with this book. It was just so boring. But once I got about 100-150 pages in I was curious to see what happens. This book is definitely one of those accomplishment books that you proudly display on your shelf to say "Hey! I read this book and understood most of it!" I did have to spark note some passages because I wasn't sure what was going on, but I wouldn't let that deter you. Feel accomplished once you've finished it! This book showed me that Dickens isn't so scary, and I'll eventually read more of his other works.
