Well, it's not really a book, but whatever.
I suppose if you know absolutely nothing about language, it'll be sort of illuminating.
If you're British, you may enjoy it, too. Especially the bit on puns. It's a typical thing, to pick up something that Britons habitually say or do and talk about it in a way, that is both self-deprecating and intensely proud. This gets old quickly and kinda boring for the rest of us, not that they care. Fair enough.
Fry's a dear, as always, but I'd rather just read one of his books or listen to something else he narrates.

Love anything Stephen Fry! This was amusing, thought provoking and educational. Listening to Mr. Fry was the icing on the cake. Audiobooks are a fabulous way for me to continue my "reading" journey, especially since my commute is close to an hour!

Listened to the audio of this - and it was really hilarious!
Q: Why do Marxists drink herbal tea?
A: Because proper tea is theft!
Very enjoyable as an audio book - so many groaners and good fun to share with friends on a road trip.

I found this to be an okay informative listen but I found myself often getting bored with the content about the english language. This is more of an audio radio show than an audio book.

Really, not so much a book as a radio series being sold as an audiobook, but I'll count it. Funny in a British sort of way. Filled with British references that I really didn't get. Short. It passed the time while I walked the dog. I would listen to more in this series.

Series 1 goes through puns, quotations, metaphors and clichés. Very fresh and enjoyable listening.
