The story started out really well and hooked me in. Like others mention - basically a combo of Killing Eve and Dexter. I liked how the flow was going but the direction changed a bit and I didn't enjoy the last third as much as the beginning. I'm not mad about reading it though...I'm usually a pretty slow reader but this one sucked me in and I finished it very quickly compared to my usual read times.

I’ve been on a streak of unlikeable main characters and Claire is no different. Her matter-of-fact disdain for “ordinary people” and her approach to murder is funny in a twisted way though.
One of the initial plot drivers is left unresolved and leads me to think that we didn’t need it in the first place. In, let’s say, the third act of the story, it seemed to veer off course for a bit. The ending wasn’t anything to write home about but it made sense for the character and this kind of story.
Also refreshing to read a woman as a serial killer :) I especially appreciate that there wasn’t a concrete reason for her to have become one. So many times, authors feel the need to provide a backstory that justifies, or at least explains, how/why the Bad Character™ wound up that way (especially if it’s the MC). It’s not always needed! Sometimes, folks are just born terrible and that’s okay :)

"As our paths cross, his eyes meet mine and I smile - he looks better as a ghost, almost interesting."
If you could see me right now, you'd know I'm legitimately clapping. The narrator? Superb. The story? Flawless. There was not a single beat missed. The absolute bonkers nature of this plot? Out of left field, but 100% worth it. Claire is absolutely bonkers, but I think she might be my favorite psychopath. Its giving Dexter-ish vibes and I'm here for it. Well done, Joanna Wallace.
"My hammer is a thing of great beauty. To the rest of the world, it is just a hammer; but to me, it's a bridge, linking my desires to my reality. Always reliable, always there, always allowing me to excel at what I do."
