While being fast paced and entertaining, the story seems to drag a bit in places. Does get your heart pumping near the climax though. Personally not a fan of the romance angle or the convenient removal of the obstacle to the said romantic angle. All in all, a one time read.

Is this her first book?

The writing was simple and disorganized. There's missing punctuation in quotes, the quotes aren't clear as to which character is speaking until it's no longer relevant, there's a lot of unnecessary information, a lot of missing information (actions and such i.e. Did he drop the gun and grab her hand? Did the report mention another child or is Brandon just psychic?)

The plot had seemed promising and I had actually been excited to read this as I love crime thrillers, but this was simply a task to read. It's really hard for me to understand that this author has written more than thirty books, because her writing doesn't reflect that.

I give this two stars as I appreciated the twist at the end, but overall I would not recommend this books to other readers.

I feel bad about giving a book such a low rating as I'm not an author and I admire anyone who can write a book. But this just wasn't good. The dialogue was awful and the book needed a very thorough edit - the writing was clumsy and the grammar was bad. The main character was not likeable at all and the story just wasn't believable. The description sounded amazing and it should have been a book that I really enjoyed. I thought about stopping reading more than once but wanted to finish it to make sure I hadn't missed something.

I've always enjoyed murder mysteries and crime programmes, but until recently I've never been one for reading psychology thrillers and then this past couple of months have brought a couple of new authors to my attention  one of which is Carolyn Arnold . Eleven the first bin the Brandon Fisher series has been in my kindle library for ages.  So due to my current challenge to read my  kindle library  I've just found yet another fantastic first novel from a series that I now need to read more of. I didn't want to put this down it gripped me and pulled me in from the first page, the atmosphere that  the writing  emerges you in is chilling wanting you to stay  with the action . If you love things like criminal minds  you need to read this it'll be your gateway to a new favourite series.

My 6P review

This was basically a written episode of Criminal Minds and CSI. This is an in-depth FBI serial killer procedural novel. The author had obviously done her research.

The premise of the story was brilliant. Who doesn’t want to find a chamber full of dead bodies with a room for moe? The execution was lacking though.

The characters were awful. Brandon was wanting his marriage to work, and yet he’s off bonking Paige. His wife leaves him after turning off her phone but then wants him to come home for dinner. This added nothing to the story. The other characters were very two dimensional and very stereo typical. Jack’s constant need for a cigarette, or holding an unlit one in his mouth or patting his pockets trying to locate one, was very frustrating. Who care. Get on with the plot.

Set in Kentucky, I only had a small sense of being there. I would have liked more information on the setting.

The basis for the killings was centred around the coinherence symbol, which was never really explained, so I had to google it.

Not really sure how to rate this one. It plodded through the story and the ending just happened. 2.5⭐️

Enjoyed this book very much, the characters and the plot. Ending seemed a bit abrupt but maybe that's just me.

So glad I don't have to hear about Jack "reaching for his cigarette packet" or "bobbing a cigarette" on his lips or "flicking his lighter" again.

Story had potential but the writing was confused and messy and sometimes difficult to follow, and then suddenly the mystery was solved, book over, job done. Readable but not entirely enjoyable.
