This was a good suspense novel and provided interesting insight into the role Switzerland played as a "neutral" country in WWII. It kept me engaged.

It wasn't bad, but it just didn't hold my interest as much as other similar books. Whether it was the narrator or the book, I just wasn't drawn into it as much as I had hoped. I am willing to give it another try with a later book being read by George Guidall (who I usually like) because it was interesting enough for that and I do like the main character. I definitely found the historical material to me interesting as I had no idea of the role the Swiss played in the moving of confiscated/stolen Jewish art during the war.

Overall, I'd say this second installment in GaBriel Allon, Isreali SuperSpy, is not as good as the first installment. Well written, insightful into Switzerland's role in the aftermath of the 2nd world war, but not nearly as suspenseful and engaging as the first. I enjoyed the characters of his team in #1, not so much emphasis in this installment. Will I try #3 to determine if the series is worth moving into more? Yes, I will, but I'm hoping it will be better than this one.

End wrapped up in unbelievable ways. Suddenly a character who had been an adversary became a savior -- clumsy explanation why. And relationship with Anna sounded as if it belonged in a badly written teen novel.

Had enjoyed the story, so was very disappointed at rushed and poorly written ending.

As far as "spy novels" go this one was alright. I have a hard time identifying with the characters in any kind of empathetic way though...

We get another installment with Gabriel Allon and this time with a new girl. What I found most fascinating was its dive into WWII Nazi and Jewish history. As always the art and human descriptions are superb. The detail brings you back to your own European travels.

These books are ridiculously far fetched at times but fun to read.

Daniel Silva is a very good storyteller. And this is a good book. Not The Black Widow level good, but still good.
