Really enjoyed this book the way it was set in a little town with a cottage it gave it a place for the mind to escape to . I liked the storyline and the relationship between the main character and the rest especially the love interest for the main character

The only times this book caused any reaction or feelings was each time Annie dropped the food she was holding when Jon kissed her.

Why do synopses never reflect the actual story?

Synopsis: When Annie returns to Thorndale, rhe village where she spent much of her childhood, she's looking for a new start. All she wants to do is fix up the cottage her godmother left her, and mend her bruised heart.

But when she Clashes with local hero, Jon, Annie wonders if she's made a mistake returning to Thorndale. The last thing she needs is more drama, yet the village seems to be conspiring to throw her and the distarctingly handsome Jon together...

Annie is looking for a new beginning with zero romance - but what if the only way to kearn to trust again is to take a risk on love?

Okay, first off, she never actually fixes up the cottage because she's too busy being a damsel in distress.

Second, she doesn't "clash" with Jon, there's one misunderstanding, about parking. I would also, use the term "hero" lightly, yes, he volunteers with the Fell Rescue, and helps the local troubled teens (of which there is alot for a tiny, little village), but for an unmarried, Christian man he seems very desperate to sleep with Annie.

Third, it's not the village throwing them together it's Jon trying desperately to be a part of Annie's life, despite her at one point telling him she's not interested. I mean it's all very convenient that after her hot water runs out, and she's checking the oil, in nothing but a towel, he barges into her house, and never explains why.

Annie is the most indecisive woman ever. She goes from telling Jon she's not interested in him, to actively seeking him out.

Also, why is it her fault when his ex-girlfriend doesn't listen to what Annie says. You go from Annie being pissed because Jon hasn't told her that his ex, who he proposed to, is going to be at the party they attended, to Jon being pissed because his ex hasn't listened to what Annie said, about her and Jon's relationship and has proceeded to start telling people at the party that they are engaged.

I finished reading this book some days ago but didn't quite know how I was going to write a review.
The short version is that this book is not for me, but I DO think a lot of people will enjoy it.
The book started well. I was completely entranced with the picturesque village of Thorndale, the hump backed bridge, the fell rescue centre, The Courtyard where there are artist workshops and a beautiful restaurant, the post office and ice cream shop, the cottages, the farms etc etc.
I also knew that this would be a romantic read and that Annie and Jon, after many bumps, diversions, wrong turnings and misunderstandings would get together for a happily ever after.
I love romantic and uplifting stories set in idyllic places as I can dream myself there and be living a gentler, happier, cosy existence. This book has all the right ingredients for just that type of daydream, some interesting characters and a clear desire to offer the reader pure escapism fiction.
For me though, I found the language a bit too repetitive and some of the aspects of Annie's characters and actions a little maddening.
I can imagine this becoming a series and that some readers will readily devour book after book.
I wish the author all the best with the series if that is what becomes of Thorndale and its inhabitants.

Unfortunately I found his book quite boring. The ending was so unrealistic - engaged after 3 weeks? I don’t think so!
