This is possibly my favorite King novel so far. This is the second part of the larger work Under the Dome which is available as one work. In this novel, King masterfully weaves the stories and lives of a generous population of characters which leaves us confronting parts of ourselves that many prefer not to acknowledge.
If you are going to read Under the Dome, read both parts back to back. It was my mistake to read Part 2 two months after reading Part 1. I couldn't remember who was who and worse, I didn't care that much anymore. That fact could also have colored my disbelief and letdown around the reason for the dome. A disservice was done in making this a 2-parter.
I'm giving 4-stars though because it IS Stephen King and because I enjoyed the first half so much.

It's been a journey. I don't know if it's because I took a long break from Mr. King, or it's a great book, but I loved it.
There are MANY characters, and you get lost at some point, but the story keeps you hooked.
It felt a lot like the political reality we're facing these days, and that's creepy I must say.

I had alot of fun with this book. Pretty wild concept and the characters were pretty good. The conclusion was satisfactory.
This and part one are my first King novels read. I can see why he has such a following. Characters were well developed as well as plot.
I did however find the ending underwhelming and the random first person narratives near the end threw me off track a bit.
Nice intro though to his work and I am planning on reading some more of his books.
