I finished this book in a single sitting and I could not put it down. An amazing work, like all the works of Paulo Coelho. Personally, I could relate to Veronika in so many ways, and it left me with so many lessons, that only a good book provides.

I learned to reevaluate and appreciate what makes me different from everyone else. Essentially my differences is what makes me unique. Trying to fit in to a model that society has created will only make you crazy or feel less than.

Very good. Really good idea - suicidal girl attempts it, fails then finds out she's ruined her heart with the overdose and will die within the week. What effect will this have on her? And the other inmates of the asylum she's been placed in?
I liked the stories of the other inmates and how Veronika's situation affected her. I guessed the twist early on but it didn't detract at all from my enjoyment of the story. Preferred The Alchemist but really liked this too.
