2023: still addicting and trashy as ever with politics and history of how the country was made making me re- evaluate my life choices.

Some good brainless escapism with that dystopian MC just bland enough to project onto. Yet the difference between this and when I reread divergent is that it actually entertained. These books are real popcorn

Better than I thought going into it. The first few chapters had me rolling my eyes. It's a hunger games and cinderella mash-up, complete with heroine who is just SOOOOO different from all the other girls, of course. She's low born, she doesn't have a chance, she has a temper. It's all so predictable that you can pretty much see most of this book coming. She begins to like the prince? Oh gosh, shocking. Love triangle? Who ever could have thought. Former love interest thinks it's a good idea to just show up at the palace? Surprise! Prince decides to keep the one really horrible girl there despite being told repeatedly that she's horrible? Didn't see that com-- oh wait, I did. There are good things about this though, including the little deal they make with each other. All in all, not as bad as I expected, but I'm not sure I can sit though an entire two books of this stupid love triangle here. Oh and FFS, why is the 'other' guy named Aspen?!? Can we get any more hipster here?

Overall really great book! Listened as an audiobook and was a nice but interesting read for when I was walking or driving and wanted to keep busy. Slightly has Hunger Games vibes but for a younger audience. Sometimes it can be a bit cliche or too far fetched, but overall still enjoyed it.

I really wanted to give this book five stars but the thing is it’s short the scenes are a bit fast at times and not as detailed as I would have preferred but nonetheless I enjoyed every part of this book the story was very much to my liking
