This book was gifted to me, it maybe wasn't something I would have picked out for myself but I really enjoyed it! I laughed out loud quite a few times. It was the perfect balance of creepy and funny. The mc was funny and relatable. The ending I definitely wasn't expecting, and I feel like it took a hard left turn from where I would've anticipated it going but it ended up being enjoyable! Huge fan of Hermes 10/10 good boi

A perfectly readable horror book, T. Kingfisher's specialty. A remarkably easy read with clear theming and an excellent walk into the supernatural aspect. At no point was I particularly surprised, but that is not a mark against the book.

"I could not pity the adult she had become, but I could pity the girl she had been."

✨generational trauma✨

What a fun little popcorn horror! You think you know what's going on, but there are lots of twists and turns to keep it interesting right up until the end. Sam is delightful and funny and the allegories are strong.

The narrator for the audiobook is fantastic.

A funny, fat, snarky, smart scientist woman protagonist - some of my favorite bits. The beginning dragged a little bit, but I loved Sam and it was worth it. I did get a little claustrophobic during the ends scenes-that was...intense.
