I was over the moon when I found out there was going to be sapphic, Jennifer’s Body inspired vampire story coming out because that’s my all-time favorite horror film. I was even more excited that I. S. Belle was writing it, since I loved her Babylove series. And Honeybloods did not disappoint. The powerful but complicated friendship, Diablo Codyesque humor, and “good for her” vibes of Jennifer’s Body are all there, but with enough changes and additions that it didn’t feel like a mere retelling. There also were some great Twilight jokes scattered throughout. Such a fun, entertaining novella. I had a grin plastered on my face the entire time I was reading.
Moderate: Addiction, Violence, and Animal death
Minor: Murder

This book was given to me as an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review
You never know when you’re going to need to cash in on a blood oath.
So, Honeybloods.
Honestly, I'm not surprised anymore. After having read previous works by I. S. Belle, I should have known sapphic romance and vampires would make for quite a good match. There is a great mix of romance and comedy here, sprinkled with the occasional bursts of blood and teenage chaos.
I have been fortunate enough to read the Babylove books as ARCs previously, and for those who have read that series, there is a small reunion with some of those characters as well. Which honestly was a lot of fun.
As that is the case, I would recommend reading those beforehand if you'd like to know more about the characters we meet. I have yet to read Zombabe, but I think that might be beneficial as well to fully know the universe. That being said, you can read it just fine without them, just a heads up to those who would like to know "the full story" before embarking on Honeybloods.
In the least "spoilary" summary I can make for you:
The book is great. The banter between Honey and Sadie is amazing, the plot flows super well and we get intimately familiar with more than one American bathroom as Honey drags Sadie on a road trip to find out more about what happened to her and how to fix it.
For those of us who read a ton of vampire fiction in the 00s and 10s, this book holds some cute references to good - and subjectively - less good literature and pop culture of those periods. And it goes well with the plot, as Honey tries to understand her newfound vampirism through trial and error. I highly recommend giving it a read.

I recieved this as an ARC and my opinion is freely given.
I really enjoyed this goofy, little sapphic murder road trip. The last few pages felt a little rushed and I felt it was over too quickly, but such is the nature of novellas.
Other issues I had were some minor typos and grammar errors but honestly, it didn't take me out of the story.
