A beautifully written and highly original debut novel. I think I would describe it as a mystery drama. It is by turns sad, funny, warm, chilling and suspenseful. The characters, even the grumpy daughter, are realistic and easy to sympathise with. The vulnerable but plucky and courageous heroine will stay with me for some time.
Felt flat with no real twist
Graphic: Dementia
Was a really interesting read. Protagonist is an old lady losing her memory and book jumps between past and muddled present.

It's terribly sad and gets worse as Maud gets worse. It flows fine as you read, each section/"happening" is long enough.

I really enjoyed this! The writing style is simple and easy to read, the characters themselves were interesting, although I couldn't relate to any of them, the story was still enjoyable. Having a protagonist suffering with dementia added a different perspective to the story. I liked the blending of the storylines and thought it worked quite well. Despite the dark tones of the book, I would definitely recommend this for a read.
