Tom Angleberger and Cece Bell are a match made in heaven (good think they found each other)! This book is funny from page one and will definitely get the reader giggling. The hilarious story line mixed with the colorful, exaggerated, silly illustrations make the reader purely engaged in the book. This book will definitely make the reader sing “Yankee Doodle” and want to read the book again.

Attempts to answer that age-old question: why DID Yankee Doodle stick a feather in his cap and call it macaroni?

This hilarious look at the "origins" of the song Yankee Doodle features an eager pony and his very cranky owner who does not want to go to town. Includes an afterword about the song. A hilarious addition to patriotic units. Recommended for grades K-2.

This book is for a very quirky kid. It's written by Tom "[b:The Strange Case of Origami Yoda|7150174|The Strange Case of Origami Yoda (Origami Yoda #1)|Tom Angleberger|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1328813137s/7150174.jpg|7415356]" Angleberger, which is how it ended up on my radar. I had a laugh reading it to myself and outloud to my fellow librarians but it's not going on the storytime shelf. It's best for an older child who knows the "Yankee Doodle" song and has a very dry sense of humor.

It's odd. I laughed, not sure what kids will do though!
