The Underground Railroad is at once clever, devastating, and hopeful. It’s really a hallmark of contemporary Black speculative fiction and a necessary piece of American literature. I think some of the critiques of this book make sense (Cora and Caesar, for instance, could have been more fleshed out as characters) but U think the broader messages communicated by The Underground Railroad shine through and make it highly deserving of its Pulitzer Prize. Would recommend to essentially anyone and everyone.
