Vague and unresolved - unclear what the writer was trying to convey.  But the art was great!!

Incredibly beautiful art, but the use of visual archetypes is pretty repetitive and cliched. But this story intrigued me and worried me, and I can't quite untangle the threads and arcs around gender, imperialism, and Judaism in this text....

A beautifully drawn novel about colonialism and the relationships between women of all types and men in the imperial context. The characters are fascinating and the art perfectly serves the beautiful, mysterious world they have been sent to.

The plot is loosely based off of black narcissus, a film about nuns that start a monastery in Nepal. Just as visually stunning as the movie, this was a really interesting book and I commend the creators
