An intriguing read. The author is an incredible storyteller and builds characters in a super unique way. The only downfall for me was the difficultly on keeping all of the names straight throughout the chapters. Overall enjoyed it though.
Started it bc it won a Pulitzer. Stopped halfway bc it was gimmicky and therefore annoying.
Interesting structure. I liked the last 100 pages more than anything else. Definitely a must read if you're interested in the various methods of storytelling and POV.

I skipped the entire power point chapter. Each chapter was its own little book. Sure, they related but not closely. Some of the chapters were interesting and I would have loved to read more on the characters. Others were so boring I skimmed them. Overall, disappointed.
2021: I gave this a second read. The first time, I liked it, but this time I really loved it. Will collect my thoughts more eloquently at some point and elaborate.
2017: Well-written and interesting but mixed feelings.

Everyone in this book was having a tough time, but it didn't feel depressing -- just like "that's life." And the connections between people got really interesting at the end. Also, the PowerPoint chapter was better than I could have imagined!
After about five pages, I started really liking this book and getting excited about it. It reads with a lot of depth and the intertwining of the stories feels more real than other books where it just feels contrived. But then there was this weird powerpoint section, and after that it ended in a strange way that reminded me a bit like [b:Feed|169756|Feed|M.T.
