I haven't been able to get into this book- about a quarter of the way through it. Maybe I'll finish reading it at some point...

An absolute banger of a book. This novel/short story collection blurs the lines of literary conventions as it weaves a complex narrative that covers decades and dozens of characters. The writing is varied between the stories but remains compelling. The author also utilizes extended literary techniques (for example powerpoint presentations) to give unique voices to each of the characters. This book cannot rightly be called a novel due to its lack of focused narrative and structure. But it’s also not a simple short story collection as the stories always relate back to each other despite covering different characters. The result is a book that can only be described as a “literary experience” which I believe every reader should experience. A deserving winner of the Pulitzer Prize. 5/5

Collection of short stories tied together by the characters, all of whom are going to get, die, and during their lifetime remember their past as they live the present and influence the future. The true genius of the book centers in the chapter done in Power Point. So many layers to these stories. Great read. Not particularly light but not a heavy read either.

I had a great time reading this book. Egan is certainly in command of her craft. Surprisingly, the powerpoint chapter was not only the most inventive but also packed the most emotional punch. Something I missed in some of the other chapters
